CHAPTER 10: CENSOR

CHAPTER TYPE: REACTION

After you’re finally done with blaming yourself for the things other people did to you, you are finally able to open your mouth and speak your truth; you expect it to be a beautiful celebration of life and survival, a marching parade of resilience and determination. But instead, you get an evict notice smashed right across your face, telling you to fuck off and never come back to the sacred community of mental health advocates. “You’d give us a bad name with your disgusting personality disorder”, the paper reads, and you drop it onto the ground. “Why is it that I don’t fit in even in the group who could supposedly help me with all of this?” The answer to this question lies deep within the confines of artistic censorship and ableist attitudes society has long accepted as the norm. And people like you will never get that luxury in this life.
